PRE-PEEL SKIN CARE

To achieve your desired cosmetic result, consult with your practitioner to discuss pre-and post-peel home care to maintain your results. For one month prior to your Vi Peel treatment, avoid using other peels and exfoliating treatments, including laser procedures. In addition, exfoliating products, such as glycolic acid, vitamin C, tretinoin, should be discontinued for one week prior to your treatments. Likewise, refrain from abrasive mechanical exfoliants, such as scrubs on the area the Vi Peel is applied. Men should refrain from shaving the day of the Vi Peel.

POST-PEEL SKIN CARE

The Vi Peel is an extraordinarily potent peel and requires at-home care with the provided post-peel kit. The expected downtime is approximately 7 days. Generally, most patients start peeling around Day 3, starting around the nose and peeling outward towards the cheeks. For two weeks post-peel, avoid using any form of mechanical or physical exfoliants, such as scrubs, glycolic acid, and Retin-A. Due to skin shedding and new skin formation, avoid any direct sunlight and use the sunscreen provided in the post-peel kit. Do not exercise while the skin is shedding because sweat may further irritate the skin.

While the skin is peeling, resist the temptation to pull at the peeling skin because it can lead to scarring and discoloration. Allow the skin to slough off naturally. Trimming any skin that has already sloughed off is allowed. If you experience any itchiness or discomfort, use the hydrocortisone 1% included in the post-peel kit. If you have any questions, contact your practitioner.
