Everything You’ve Ever Wanted to Know About Lip Filler

It goes without saying that we can’t discuss lip fillers without praising Queen Kylie for starting a lip revolution! Kylie Jenner’s lip transformation took the world by storm just a few years ago and since then, big, beautiful pouty lips have become one of the most popular cosmetic treatments in the last decade. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, where masks are still mandated across the globe, more than 3.4 million patients received filler treatments in 2020 alone. It seems as though patients are seeking lip fillers more now than before the pandemic!

But that’s nothing to pout about! Full, luscious lips are confidence boosters and can help you put your best face, smile and attitude forward. However, just like any other aesthetic procedure, there are several factors to consider before getting your lips done. Lucky for you, our beauty experts at Beauty Lounge Medical Spa have put together some “Dermal dos and don’ts” that will guide you towards the #PerfectPout. But first…

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal filler is one of the most popular noninvasive treatments. The flexibility of the procedure allows us to customize your lip filler treatment with your specific goals and concerns. Whether you’d like to sharpen the lip contour, gain lip symmetry or restore volume, we have a variety of dermal filler options to help achieve the look you desire. One of our favorites, Juvederm, is made from a base of hyaluronic acid that helps plump lips and can even add a boost of hydration to smooth those stubborn, subtle cracks that can gather over the years.

Our lips can be a source of insecurity during any stage of life. As we age, our lips can lose shape and volume and create wrinkles on and around our lips, which can cause our confidence to decline. Lip fillers can help quickly address these common concerns by giving your lips the plump and hydrated boost they need.

DO: Educate yourself. Whether you’re just considering lip fillers, or preparing for your appointment, it’s important to prepare yourself for next steps. As we said, there are a variety of types of dermal fillers to choose from and it helps to know which treatment you’re most interested in before your consultation. Our Beauty Lounge Medical Spa makes it easy: we encourage you to visit our site for a deep dive into the services we offer to find the best one for you.

DON’T: Pick just any doctor or medical spa for treatment. At Beauty Lounge Medical Spa, we have a team of trained beauty professionals that will guide you from start to finish. We make up a unit of skincare specialists that want you looking your best after treatment. Most importantly, we have highly-qualified master injectors on-site that will ensure you get the results you desire.

DO: Let us know about any medications or supplements you’re currently taking. Some medications can cause adverse effects when combined with dermal filler and we want to keep you safe!.

DON’T: Consume caffeine, herbal supplements, alcohol, fish oil, blood thinners or aspirin/acetomenphine before. Many of these have a blood-thinning effect which can cause your lips to appear bruised or inflamed following treatment. Some of these also cause dehydration; instead of alcohol, we recommend…

DO: Drink plenty of water. Being hydrated is good for your health, overall, and your lip fillers will appreciate the extra dose of hydration as well.

DON’T: Get fillers while pregnant or breastfeeding. Just don’t. Not safe!

DO: Take Arnica and ice your lips after treatment. If you’re having troubles with swelling and bruising, Arnica can help reduce these effects when applied 4-6 hours. Icing your lips also has an effect of swelling and busing.

DON’T: Freak out! The first few days of treatment can be tough, depending on how big and swollen your lps were. Don’t be scared, be informed!

DO: Book your next appointment at Beauty Lounge.
